Tehran-Tokyo ties of high importance to Japan: ambassador

TEHRAN – Japanese Ambassador to Tehran Akio Shirota said expanding ties with Iran is of high importance to Japan.

“The expansion of ties and cooperation with Iran is very important to Japan and… along the same lines the former Japanese foreign minister will travel to Tehran in the coming days,” he stated in a meeting with Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaeddin Borujerdi on Tuesday.
The Iranian MP, for his part, said, “There are many capacities for an all-out cooperation between the two countries.”
He also pointed to Iran’s role in the region, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran have spared no effort in restoring peace in Iraq and Afghanistan.
